I know you’re busy; but are you satisfied with the leads coming into your business?
We’ve been sprinting, as Ideagility, adding new customers from ServiceMaster and from outside the network. The profitable successes for customers have been dramatic; I’m writing to share some of my favorite insights. Especially, this email explains why getting one little email in my inbox is so important to me and my whole team:
Getting an email from Ideagility, telling me I have a new lead, is just the best part of my day.
Because of this one email, I know exactly when the phone rang or when the online form was submitted. My team knows I know. They’re all over it. I know if the phone rang once or five times each day. I see it in this email.
If I want to, I can listen to a recording of the phone call that just came in. The link is right in each notification email; I’ve also shared it at the end of this email. I don’t listen every time, but I sure do frequently. Here’s what I learned, and what surprised me, by following up on each lead and listening to the recorded calls:
- Urgent requests come in after hours. They rarely leave a voicemail, they simply hang up. We called back several to determine they were real and that, you guessed it, a day later we were already too late to earn the job. As a result, I justified the cost of after-hours phone support – and we’re not missing leads anymore.
- Some of my most highly trained telephone representatives were not comfortable with our new maintenance services. We’re doing a refresh on training as we speak.
- Everyone in my company is in Sales. We didn’t think so, originally, but now we know. If the receptionist and her back up don’t answer the phone, my bookkeeper does. Hearing us stumble on those calls was painful, but it led us to new training opportunities and a new way to light employee enthusiasm on fire with possibilities.
